A Special Thank You to Our Past Teachers and Principals

15th May 2025

We were delighted to welcome back some of our former teachers and principals — Mrs. Cooke, Mrs. Brannigan, Mrs. Scott, and Mrs. Behan — for a very special visit to our school, organised by Ms. Igoe.

The 2nd class pupils did a fantastic job interviewing our guests, showing them around the school, highlighting all the exciting new additions, and proudly sharing stories about the many different nationalities that now make up our vibrant school community.

Our brilliant interviewers — Yasmin, Camelia, Alisa, Olivia, Debra, and Aliana — asked thoughtful questions and helped everyone feel right at home. When interviewed, our visitors all agreed that their favourite part of teaching at St. Philip’s was — without a doubt — the children, the parents, and of course, their wonderful colleagues. They shared fond memories of teaching their favourite subjects, including singing, reading, PE, and Gaeilge.

They also noted some big changes since their time here — smaller class sizes, no more blackboards and chalk, and fabulous new interactive whiteboards in every classroom!

As for retirement? They’re loving it! The best parts include getting up a little later, meeting friends for coffee, spending time gardening, and most of all, enjoying precious moments with family and grandchildren... aah, the retired life!

We were also thrilled to welcome back Mrs Moore (Ms. Slattery) — and this time, she brought a very special guest with her: baby Áine! Huge congratulations to Mrs. Moore on the new arrival.

There was plenty of chat, laughter, and reminiscing over refreshments and delicious cake — a fabulous morning that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

A heartfelt thank you to all our visitors — we hope to welcome you back again soon!
