  Welcome! You are invited to join a meeting: Talking to Your Child about Autism - with Amanda McGuinness. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting. 

Amanda Mc Guinness, Training Officer with AsIAM – Ireland's National Autism Charity, will facilitate a presentation for Plan Dublin 15 on the topic of - "Talking To Your Child About Autism".

 

 In this presentation, Amanda will seek to

 

  • Support parents of autistic children post-autism identification to talk to their children about their autistic identity.

 

  • Amanda will share her unique viewpoint as an Autistic adult and as a parent to three autistic sons.

 

  • She will provide neuroaffirmative advice and support on how to talk to your child about their autistic identity.

 

  • She will highlight the importance of understanding and accepting yourself as a neurodivergent individual in a predominantly neurotypical world.

 

  • She will discuss how to support your child in understanding their autistic identity, highlighting the importance of normalising differences in humanity, physical and brain differences.

 

  • She will explore the strengths of being Autistic and explore challenges faced by autistic individuals today. She will recommend reading materials, together with a host of additional resources.

 

There will also be time for a short Q&A on the night.
